Now Live!
It seems 400 years since I last blogged (well it was technically 4 long years, here in blogger), and alas, my blog has a new look, new feel and a new name. Thanks blogger/blogspot for making this easy for me. Anyways, on this new err, renewed blog, i shall be blogging about my little adventures as a home-based mom. New learnings, new friends, new sites, simply a journey of a home-based mother.
I do hope you'll join me in this travel as I venture the home-based world after 12 long years of employment. So let's get it started.
Online Shop
First stop, I have already relaunched my online shop page which is Mei Mei's Closet, which is celebrating it's first year on March 23. And yes, we're on SALE! Having an online shop is no joke moms, it surely is tedious and needs a little bit of your patience and time. Nonetheless, if you like to shop and you have a love for fashion, clothes, shoes, bags and more; plus, you have a cabinet full of preloved clothes that you know you'll never use again, then an online shop is for you. Start off with checking out other online shops, checking the prices, how they post their pictures, what are their techniques and try it as soon as you think you've got all you need. You don't need a mannequin to start, being your own model is not bad. But at least you need a camera or a good camera phone to take the pictures of your items. You can have your shop on your own facebook account or have a page like me.
Creating a Facebook Page is very easy. Just look for the "Create a Page" link at the bottom of your Home page, where all the news feeds are. And Facebook will give you a step by step guide. Make sure to choose a page name with your personal touch, but easy to remember and search . And voila you have your own Facebook Page. Congratulations! Now invite your friends to like your page, so that they can receive updates from your page.
Small Home Business
And since, not all people are women and not all women NEED just clothes, I created ABNormal. Yes, you're not seeing it wrong, it's spelled abnormal but should be pronounced A B Normal, which stands for Always Beyond Normal. I wanted to create an events organizing team, who will create beyond normal events, items and more. I just added the other services, which were lay-outing, printing and others. But before making the page, I made my own logo and brand. Why ABNormal? Because abnormal means extraordinary, thus, the name, and yes I'm quite abnormal. :) And why the logo? As I have read in one of the many websites I searched (sorry, I did not save the address), creating your brand should reflect on your personality and your being. And it seems, I don't have to explain why the vampire girl and violet, simply because it's me.
After having my brand and logo. I bought a desktop and a printer to keep me going. I decided not to use my laptop on this, since I would be needing a large monitor, to make my graphics and video editing. For Davao City moms, you can buy your desktops or laptops at Davao Futurebright Enterprises (DFE), which is located in Ecoland. They offer packages and are the most affordable in Davao City. I got mine for 16k only, all brand new :). For the printer I bought it at Inktech, quite pricey at P4180, installed with CISS. And that should do it. Again, after making the page, invite your friends to visit and like your page.
Odesk
I've been a member of Odesk since 2011, and this has been the first time I applied for a job. And my first job was to write 20 poems for greeting cards for $5. Very cheap right? But anyways, I took the job, to add to my experiences. The more experience I have, the more I'll be qualified to another job. My second task for the same employer is make messages for certain keywords. It was really vocabulary draining, but anyways it was worth it. And speaking of that, I have to start off with my 2nd batch of keywords. Bye for now! :)
